His Holiness Acharya Swami Shri Jitendranath Maharaj, revered with the title Shri Shri 1008, is the current Peethadheesh (spiritual head) of the Shri Nath Peeth. He is the 18th Yogapattadhish (spiritual successor) in the great Nath Sampradaya lineage. The tradition of Shri Nath Peeth has continued unbroken for over 600 years, with its roots tracing back to Adinarayan, Bhagwan Dattatreya, Shri Janardanswami, and Sant Eknath Maharaj.
Drawing from the spiritual and Vedic wisdom received through his Guru lineage, Swami Jitendranath Maharaj has made remarkable contributions to Indian culture, the preservation of dharma, and the betterment of society.
He was initiated into spiritual life at a very young age by his Guru, Shri Shri 1008 Brahmanand Maharshi Swami Shri Manoharnath Maharaj. From there, he undertook in-depth study of the Rigveda and other Vedic texts, as well as Vedanta and the traditional wisdom of the Nath lineage.
Swamiji holds academic degrees in disciplines like science, sociology, and pharmaceutical sciences, and he was awarded a university gold medal in the field of Information Science.
In the year 2001, he formally ascended to the sacred seat of Shri Nath Peeth under the name Swami Jitendranath Guru Manoharnath, through the Yogapattabhishek (spiritual coronation).
