Third Peethadhish
P. P. Swami Shri Nityanandnath Maharaj
(1582 – 1661)
Originally from Kashi, Shri Nityanandnath Maharaj later resided in Kawsan, near Paithan. From a young age, he was under the divine guidance of Shri Eknath Maharaj and was affectionately called "Gavba." However, after his Acharya consecration, he was given the spiritual name Nityanandnath Maharaj.
He completed the Bhavarth Ramayana, a significant literary contribution left unfinished by Shri Eknath Maharaj. Apart from his deep engagement in spiritual discourses, kirtans, and community upliftment, he upheld and illuminated the true essence of the Nath tradition—a path of wisdom, detachment, and unwavering protection of dharma.
With profound faith in his Guru, he embodied the principle of carrying out the Guru’s command with complete surrender. In 1661, he took samadhi in Kawsan, though his memorial shrine is in Paithan.
